Exchange student program=

 

- Exchange program students can participate only in partner institutions in Korea whic= h are in agreement with the TaLK program and the exchange students must apply directly through your home university. Online-application through the TaLK website is not permitted.

 Number of candidates: 100 students from institutions in agreement= with 4-year partner universities in Korea.

  Duration:  6 months or 1 year

   ※  August 2008- January 2009 OR August= 2008 – July 2009.

  Eligibility: Candidates who fulfill all of the following requirements<= /p>

   ※ Possible adjustment according to participating universities’ criteria.

  ❍= Be a citizen = of a country where the primary language is English (Australia, Canada, New Zeala= nd, U.K., U.S.A., Ireland, and South Africa)

     ※ Ethnic Koreans with legal residencies in the above countries are elig= ible also.=

  ❍= Candidates who can participate as a scholar for 6 months or 1 year in duration<= /span>

     ※ During the contract term, the participant must be able to maintain his/her status

as a regular student in their home university.

     ※ Candidates who are already in Korea as an exchange student also can ap= ply

  ❍= Candidates wh= o fulfill the requirements for visa (D-2, F-4, or F-2)

  Process of Application:

  ❍= Applicant = 594; University → Provincial Office of Education

  Required documents

      -  One application form for exchange students (TaLK application form including one passport = size photo, a personal medical assessment, and a personal essay )

- A criminal record check (county level)

※ An Official Medical Check : after arriving in Korea, you must under= go a medical check-up at a designated hospital, and if the test results determine that you have serious disease(s) which are infectious or may keep you from performing your duties, your scholarship will be cancelled and you must ret= urn to your home country at your own expense. (e.g. drug addiction, AIDS) =

  Benefits

  ❍= Monthly allowance: 900,000 = won (as of September 1, 2008)

  Responsibilities of scholars

  ❍= Teaching Engl= ish in after-school classes in designated schools: 9 hours per week

※ While teaching after-school Engl= ish classes, opportunity for working partnerships with selected Korean univer= sity students and possibilities for support and counseling

※ Orientation (4 weeks) will provide theories and practices regarding teaching methodologies and classroom management<= /o:p>
