The mission of the Department of Child, Family and Housing
Studies, Graduate School of Kyung Hee University is to discover
theories about Child, Family and Housing Studies. The department
serves 3 specific majors with faculty of Child, Family and
Housing areas. Our department continually updates its curriculum,
because we believe in staying in the forefront. Recently,
our department developed new courses in 3 specific majors.
Recognized as a research leader, the impact on new leading
theories is evidenced by the breadth of topics tackled by
our faculty and graduate students, including healthy family,
gifted child education, planning, interior design and management
of senior congregate housing, color specialties, child facility
planning.
1)At least 24 course units of graduate level credit in Child,
Family and Housing Studies course are required for the master's
degree and 60 course units for the doctor's degree ( including
units completed in master course).
2)Students have to pass a qualifying examination.
3)Students must fulfill presentation, defense, and document
requirement for the Child, Family and Housing Studies thesis
committee.
4)A thesis advisor can be any faculty member from Child, Family
and Housing Studies.

Research Overview
The Korean Family Strengths Research Project is to increase
our understanding of the strengths of Korean families. This
project surveyed nationally a large number of
self-identified strong families of families with strengths
to assess which qualities these
families considered as family strengths in Korean culture.
