The 21st century is an era of huge development
in information technology. Such development
brings our world together at an amazing
speed. This ever-changing environment
needs in-depth and profound general
education in the university which produces
human resources with adaptable knowledge
for the future.
The university students should study
two parts of education during their
university life. The first part of educational
program is the liberal arts that we
call the general education and the second
is the specialized education that is
related with their major. General education
provides the basic subjects of history,
literature and philosophy for further
academic success.
Kyung
Hee University realized the importance
of general education and founded the
School of General Education in July
2001. We will continue to do our best
to provide excellent general educational
programs for future leaders.
The purposes of education are producing
human resources with
- the capability of leading the new
world paradigm,
- the adaptability for globalization,
- the adaptability for developing
an information technology society,
- the appreciation of logical and
creative minds and their demonstration,
and
- the profound knowledge base for
the major studies.
The
general education courses consist of
three parts: the Core Area which has
13 credits, the Disciplinary Area for
majors which have 9 credits and the
Field Area according to the academic
fields which has 13 credits. The students
have to study the three areas of general
education and get 35 credits or more
for the degree. The maximum number of
credits should be 56.

writing skills by specifying thinking

* Disciplinary Area
The main purpose is to develop the
basic academic ground and plan of
each department's curriculum.
The students should take 2 or more
subjects or more than 6 credits in
their department. They should also
take 1 subject or 3 credits in an
academic field outside of their major
for further understanding of related
fields.
Specific subject organization will
be done according to the department's
own rules.
Each department's general education
subjects are to form the basis for
the major's academic learning.
* Field Area
Field Area of general education consists
of 5 fields.
For each field, 1 subject should be
taken and total of 13 or more credits
are required.
